Student at Home is an international franchise business that provides expert computer support from students.
Customers can get in touch online or by phone, and the company sends over a student who has the appropriate skills and knowledge to help them. Students can earn extra money in their spare time, while customers enjoy very affordable technical support.
Having developed a basic ERP solution for Student at Home in its early days, we were approached again to build a new system that would support the franchise being rolled out to multiple territories around the world.

Our platform comprises a server and a separate client for each franchise. The server component has elements reflecting the basic building blocks of the company’s business model: work orders, membership profiles, calendars and so on.
For the second component, a template is used to create a client for each new franchise, with different configurations for language, currency, pricing structure, payment processing gateway, accounting method, maps, and more. With this system, Student at Home can get a new franchise up and running in a very short time, offering the franchisee an almost completely ‘turnkey’ system.
Some customers’ issues, such as network configuration, require specific training or certification. A key strength of our system is its ability to keep track of students’ skills and qualifications and match them up with customers’ requirements. It also records their locations and calendars, so operators can suggest students with the right skills who are based nearby and available at the right time.
If there is no one suitable nearby, jobs can be posted on an online pinboard, so students can choose to travel to an appointment if they wish.
